F.A.Q

What is grammatolatry?

Grammatolatry is defined as “the worship of words.”  Fitting or whatever, right?  More specifically to this tumblr, we post poetry.  Good poetry.  Great poetry.  Things having to do with writing and poetry.  I kept seeing a lot of the same kind of work featured around tumblr (y’know, the Bukowski/McDaniel/Brautigan/Cummings/Siken poems), and I really wanted a space where more diverse writers were showcased.

Who runs grammatolatry?

theoryoflostthings, partythighs, yesyes, and rosiee.

Will you post my poem?

No.

Do you take other submissions?

Yeah, please make sure the poem you’re submitting is in the form of a quote post, and either link us to it or submit it.  If we accept a submission, it’ll most likely go in the queue, so again, it may take a few days to show up as a post.  If you want us to reblog it from you, that’s cool, just give us the link.

How many poems do you post a day?

At least one.  No more than… who knows.  We’ll definitely try not to flood your dashboard, though there might be spurts here and there.

Is there a directory of the poets and poems posted?

Not currently, but we tag all of our posts with the author’s first and last name, so you can search for a particular poet by filling in grammatolatry.tumblr.com/tagged/firstname lastname . Make sure there’s a space in between the first name and last name.  You can also check out the audio and video tags for those kinds of poems.

Where do you get the poems you post?

A variety of sources!  I try as much as I can to quote or reblog directly from a source, but sometimes you just find poetry floating around the internet.  I’ll add more to this list as I find/remember sources, so keep checking back. Some of my tried and true places to grab poems from are listed in our online poetry directory.

And other tumblrs that post some poetry/writing to follow:

Please note: accolades and praise are very much appreciated and will certainly be read, but will probably not be published.  We’d like to keep the content of this tumblr filled with as much poetry as we can.  We’re incredibly glad that so many people are enjoying what we post (really!  I never expected it to get this popular this fast), and we’d like to continue posting things that resonate with everyone rather than filling up your dashboards with asks.

If you do have a legitimate question about this blog, the way it’s run, something that’s been posted, etc, definitely drop us a line & we’ll answer it.
